What’s the big news this week? We are COOL !!
This is all thanks to the Resource Action Fund from WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme).
Funding became available in 2020/21 from the Resource Action Fund Covid-19 Emergency Surplus Food Grant to help organisations like ours collect more surplus.
We used the funding to buy a refrigerated electric van so that we no longer have to transport chilled food products in cool boxes.
We also no longer use inefficient domestic fridges and freezers at our Sharehouse in Winson Green, with thanks to the Resource Action Fund, since having a walk-in chiller and freezer unit installed.
With this extra storage space we can now accept more chilled and frozen food to distribute to communities, groups and charities in and around Birmingham – preventing perfectly edible food from being binned.
